Arcata's Homeless Task Force co-opted by anti-homeless Bigots

The 14-person homeless task force, of which 2 persons represent the unhoused, divided into sub-committees to take on the various issues at hand. Of particular interest is the sub-committee intended to address "human rights," including Arcata's unconstitutional anti-camping ordinance which has been recently defeated twice in court. Instead, the committee renamed themselves the "community impact" commmittee, and are working with Humboldt State University to distribute a survey proposing a change in the law to require CASE MANAGEMENT in exchange for services.

You completely failed to make your case for the existence of "anti-homeless Bigots" on the task force.

I agree with anon on this one. An inflammatory headline above unrevealing text. Neither informative nor agitating. What is your goal?

If you read the Arcata Eye (local tabloid) regularly, which I do not recommend, you might have noticed a couple of full-page letters to the editor that were written by Homeless Task Force members Virgil Davis (an emergency room doctor) and Mar Leppanen (representiing the "community at large" and listed previous work at a psychiatric hospital as experience that qualified him to be on the Homeless Task Force).

Dr. Virgil Davis claims in his letter that "almost all of the negative impact on our community" by the mhomeless population is caused by those that are "homeless by choice either as 'urban travellers' or 'homeless activists.'" Sorry Virgil, that's bullshit.
There's plenty more bullshit from Virgil, but this is just a blogspot, and I don't feel compelled to repeat any of it.

Mark Leppanen confuses "wisdom on the street" with "conspiracy theories and rumors of environmental collapse." Apparently the "greater society" that he repeatedly tries to lure his target audience towards is not an informed one.

Meanwhile, these and other housed members of the task force have prevented the "homeless activists" from EVEN DISCUSSING whether or not to support keeping the Arcata Service Center open at a task force meeting(the city council will vote on this the day before the next task force meeting).

Take a look at the Humboldt State University survey that the prof Jane Hoschuh wanted to circulate:

I like to keep the main post brief and allow plenty of room for comment. Thank you for your interest.

Cool. Thanks for the links. I'm going camping, but I'll try to find time to read them when I get back.

Interesting comments, but I hardly would label these people bigots. I'm sorry, but do you expect a task force to be filled with a bunch of Yes Men? The Task Force would not be complete if it didn't offer dissenting viewpoints so that a solution is arrived at somewhere in the middle. I'm sure that upsets the Cult of M, but the rest of us want to find a middle ground.

"Cult of M"? I do not know what you are referring to...anyhow, you have not put together a very good defense for these two.

Defense? There's nothing to defend. They expressed their opinion and you called them bigots. You have the case that is yet to be made when you sling these insults around as often as my 5-year-old son calls his sister a poopyhead. Your liberal totalitarianism destroys your credibility even when you are addressing a valid issue. There is a deep end, and you are always in it.

http://www.wordreference.com/definition/bigot
bigot
noun
a prejudiced person who is intolerant of any opinions differing from his own

When someone on the Homeless Service Plan Task Force calls for running homeless people out of town who disagree with their politricks, and are willing to tell lies and publish inflamatory derogatory remarks that are pure sensationalism, scapegoating and hate-mongering in the local tabloid (Arcata Eye), it does not make sense to just sit back and let it happen. Someone needs to call the bullshitters on their bullshit.

Funny, I didn't see that in their letters.

to "anonymous": see letter from Dr. Virgil Davis printed in the Arcata Eye June 7th, 2005.

I have read the letter. I am politely expressing that you have jumped off the deep end.

well sorry "anonymous," but I've quoted EXACT words from the letters from Dr. Virgil Davis and Mark Leppenan. It doesn't really get much more obvious, but just for a laugh, check out the "PUSH POLL" being conducted by Dr. Jane Hoschuh of the Humboldt State University team. The original version is published on the net at:

Yeah, the "push poll" looks pretty good. Maybe a little tweaking is needed, but all around pretty good. You do realize that you're not just on the extreme left, but you are simply off-the-charts, right?

P.S. Go ahead and refer to me as Anonymous with a capital A without quotes. Or I'll have to begin referring to you as "Plazoid," to point out that you are as equally anonymous, equally gutless to stand behind your own words.

how much is your pay, "anonymous", for rebuking these posts?
